Manchester firefighters tackle blaze at MOT centre near Old Trafford Cricket ground

UPDATE: Police have told MM that the fire has now been put out

 

Firefighter crews are tackling a blaze inside an MOT centre on Talbot Road, near Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

Teams from Stretford, Sale, Wythenshawe, Salford, and Hyde are at the scene at Trafford MOT and are using breathing apparatus, after receiving an emergency call at 11.14am.

One eyewitness told MM: “There are huge plumes of black smoke billowing out above the building.”

Some Twitter users are wrongly reporting that is it Old Trafford Cricket Ground on fire.

Manchester Fire Service have said people may be involved.

A fire that broke out inside an MOT garage near Old Trafford Cricket ground has been brought under control and fire fighters are now damping it down.

 

Firefighter crews were called to Trafford MOT on Talbot Road at 11.14 this morning, and the road was closed to traffic.
 
The road has since been reopened, and there were no reports of casualties.
