A man’s life has been ‘put on hold’ after he was brutally attacked with a weapon by four men after getting fish and chips in Chorlton last Friday night.
The 32-year-old also needed eight metal plates to treat an injury to his jaw after the incident, which took place at 8:30pm on Whiteholme Avenue.
He had gone to a takeaway on Mersey Bank Avenue when he noticed he was being followed, and called his girlfriend telling her to meet him.
When she arrived, he gave her the food and said he didn’t want his followers to see where they lived.
He was then hit over the head with what is believed to be either a piece of wood or a metal bar.
The attackers are described as being four men, two of whom are white, one of whom is black, and the other of whom is mixed race.
Detective Constable Craig Barry appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward, and condemned this cold-blooded assault.
“This was a totally unprovoked attack on a man whose life has been put on hold because of the serious injuries he has suffered, he said.
