Stars of stage and screen have shared their elation or dismay at Donald Trump being declared the 47th President of The United States.
Riverdale Actress Lily Reinhart says that her “heart absolutely breaks for these women” referring to those who came forward with claims of sexual abuse by Trump.
I cannot fathom the feeling of the women who came forward about their sexual assault at the hands of Trump. Seeing millions of people vote for their abuser.

My heart absolutely breaks for these women. I believe you, and I am so sorry.
Rapper Cardi B couldn’t help reacting to a follower who asked if she might attend Trump’s inauguration. The WAP singer launched a tirade of expletives, adding: “I’m really sad. I swear to god I’m really sad.”
Dead To Me star Christina Applegate was so upset she threatened to close her social media accounts.
The actress said on X: “Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights.”
Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did is unreal. Don’t want followers like this. So yeah. Done. Also after today I will be shutting down this fan account that I have had for so many years…

In the UK, the response has been a little more low key, but we’ve not been let down by outspoken broadcaster Carol Vorderman who posted: “God help America!”
Trump had been endorsed by celebrity friends including Elon Musk and Joe Rogan. Frasier actor Kelsey Grammer and comedian Russell Brand also backed the republican candidate – and they were quick to share the victory.
Musk took to his own platform X to say: “The people of America gave Donald Trump a crystal clear mandate for change” whilst British export Brand shared the seemingly obligatory “God Bless America” post.
Few high profile UK celebrities have shared their joy over the Republican win, with Laurence Fox and Katie Hopkins leading the reactions. Hopkins is well aboard the Trump train with a “god bless America” post among others.
For most of us Brits we await the impact of the Trump administration. For now, many people have simply agreed with the words of Vorderman’s former colleague, Countdown’s Susie Dent, who says that the “Word of the day is ‘recrudescence’ (17th century): the return of something terrible after a time of reprieve”.
