Police are searching for a woman who may be the key to locating two men responsible for an unprovoked attack on a family-of-three on a Manchester tram-stop in January.
The woman was spotted by CCTV leaving the area by tram shortly after the assault, which took place on Saturday January 3 at around 9pm.
Greater Manchester Police have now released the pictures in an appeal for information regarding her whereabouts.
Detective Constable David Gager said: “An innocent family were subjected to a violent assault for absolutely no reason whatsoever and we conducted numerous enquiries to try and identify the offenders.
“Due to the position of one camera and the exit route used by the pair we don’t have any good quality CCTV at present, but we have identified a woman who was present and could have vital information.
“I would therefore encourage this woman or anyone who knows her to get in touch.”
The attack began between 9pm and 9:30pm when one of the offenders is reported to have made sarcastic comments towards a 47-year-old man.
He then punched the man in the face, before his accomplice joined in on the assault.
The victim’s 37-year-old wife and teenage daughter then tried to intervene, before they too were attacked.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 3522, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
