The 12 days of Christmas may be festive fun for most but the region’s criminals will be facing a Christmas crackdown as part of Greater Manchester Police’s Operation Bauble.
More than 800 GMP officers are taking part in a dozen high-profile days of action as part of a pre-emptive strike on criminals spreading misery in the pre-Christmas period.
Operation Bauble is targeting a range of offences including domestic abuse, burglary and road crimes in the hope of catching crooks in time for Christmas.

Superintendent Craig Thompson from Specialist Operations said: “We intend on blitzing crime and stopping offenders in their tracks so that the only Christmas they’ll be looking forward to is with us.
“Operation Bauble sends a very clear warning to offenders that we will not be winding down for Christmas and letting them go on their merry way.
“Over the next month we will be holding a series of high-profile days of action aimed at disrupting criminal activities and keeping the good people of Greater Manchester safe during the festive period.”
The police operation kicked off in Oldham on Thursday December 4 and proved to be a huge success as a string of wanted people were seized by officers.

A day of action will be held in each of GMP’s 12 divisions, including the airport, and today police will be looking to clean up the streets of Rochdale.
Officers will be supported by special constables and specialist units including traffic, mounted officers, tactical aid units, dog handlers and intercept ANPR teams.
GMP have already made a number of arrests as part of Operation Bauble today and have also uncovered a £20k cannabis plant in Newhey.
