Mother-of-three vanishes from Cheetham Hill home – man arrested on suspicion of murder

By Glen Keogh

The search for a Cheetham Hill mother-of-three has led to three arrests  – one on suspicion of murder.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after Rania Alayed, 25, went missing from her home on Tuesday.

A man and a woman have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, however officers stress that at this stage it still remains a ‘missing from home’ enquiry.

Superintendent Vanessa Jardine, of North Manchester Division, said: “Rania is a mother to three young children so you can imagine that her family are frantic with worry.

“That is why we are asking people to help us with this inquiry. A young mother has gone missing in sudden circumstances and our over-riding concern is that she is reunited with her children.

“At this stage however we cannot rule out the possibility that Ranya has come to some harm and we won’t know for sure what’s happened to her until we find her.”

Ranya has only lived in Manchester since January of this year, after previously living in the North East of England.

Police are continuing to investigate and Rania’s house has been searched as part of ongoing inquiries.
