This weekend more than 1,500 charities will be hosting events across the country in celebration of King Charles III coronation.
Members of the public are being encouraged to take part in volunteering in their community by looking at opportunities on The Big Help Out app.
By entering your postcode into the app you can find a range of events taking place from tech help to archery – with more being added every day.
The initiative was launched by Paralympian swimming gold medallist Ellie Simmonds, who is a volunteer and Scout Ambassador.
She said: “Volunteering is central to our national story – from families taking in refugees from Ukraine to volunteers running Scout groups and even just people looking in on a neighbour when times are tough. So it’s brilliant to see The Big Help Out – a festival of volunteering – is an official part of the Coronation celebrations.
“We’re launching the Big Help Out app – it’s your one-stop shop for 100,000s of volunteering opportunities across the country. It’s all in one place, and easy to search to suit you – your interests, organisations you want to support in your local area.”
The Big Help Out has been devised as part of the formal coronation celebrations – the UKs biggest charities have rallied together including the Scouts, The Royal Voluntary Service and Guide Dogs.
Organisers of the events are expecting communities to come together like never before to mark the first coronation since 1953.
The Big Help out is not only to pay homage to volunteering being key in Britains identity but to also inspire a new generation of volunteers.
