Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a man three days after he was discharged from hospital in Rochdale.
Police were called by paramedics to a house on Cheap Side, Rochdale shortly after 9.25am on Monday May 4 following a report that a man had been found dead.
On arrival, Rochdale officers found the body of a 40-year-old man and later arrested a 39-year-old man in the Rochdale area on suspicion of murder.
A 42-year-old man was also arrested in the Middleton area on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in police custody.
The male victim had previously been discharged from hospital on Friday May 1 after he’d been treated for injuries he sustained during a suspected assault at a house in Rochdale on April 10.
An investigation has now been launched after a post-mortem concluded that there was a possibility that the man’s death was linked to the injuries he got on April 10.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Jones from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “We are providing support to this man’s family at this difficult time and will provide updates to the public when we have more information that we can share.
“An investigation was already underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding how this man came to suffer these injuries several weeks ago and we have now arrested two men in connection with these enquiries who will be questioned by detectives today.”
If anyone knows anything they think may assist our investigation, please contact the Major Incident Team on 101 or phone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
