A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 38-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds following a group attack in Salford.
At around 1am on Tuesday police arrived at Silverdale, Clifton after reports of a stabbing.
The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in intensive care suffering from stab wounds, a broken arm and a head injury – just a week after 55-year-old Paul Massey was shot dead in the area.
Detective Chief Inspector Clare Devlin from GMP’s Salford division said: “I am very aware that our communities in Salford are understandably extremely anxious at the moment, as they hear of numerous, serious incidents that have happened in the area over the past few weeks.
“I want to try and update people as much as I can to try and allay any rumours that may be circulating.
“This is an isolated set of circumstances surrounding this attack and it is not being linked to the murder last week or any other incidents.”
The arrested teenage boy remains in police custody for questioning, however the other suspects are yet to be caught.
“Our investigation is fast-moving and has resulted in one person being arrested so far and with enquiries ongoing to identify a number of other people we believe may be involved,” added DCI Devlin.
“If you have any information about what happened last night then please get in touch with us and tell us what you know.”
