A young girl was left ‘terrified’ but unharmed, when men broke into her house in broad daylight, while she was alone inside.
Two men broke into the property on Severn Close in Altrincham at 11am on Tuesday March 22, but left without taking anything and fortunately without harming the 12-year-old child.
PC Martin Hill from GMP’s Trafford Division described the little girl as ‘very distressed’, as police appealed for information.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspicious to get in touch with police as soon as possible,” he said.
“The 12-year-old girl is obviously very distressed however thankfully she was unhurt.
“We are determined to find those responsible for this break-in. They did not managed to steal anything from the home but they have terrified a young girl who may never again feel confident alone in her own home, a place she should feel safest.”
The men were seen knocking on the front door of the house, before going into the garden and breaking in through a rear window.
Both are estimated to be about 18-years-old. One was wearing a grey jumper and black trousers, and the other a red coat.
“We are aware that this is not an isolated incident and the Trafford South area has recently been the victim of a number of day time burglaries,” said PC Hill.
“We are treating these burglaries very seriously and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice, however we would like to remind people to be vigilant and make sure their doors and windows are locked at all times.
“Anyone with any information about any of the recent burglaries is asked to contact police as soon as possible. No matter how small the information, it could be vital to our investigation.”
Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 8567846, 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
