A mother who had to be restrained after biting a paramedic at a One Direction gig in Manchester has avoided jail.
Kerry Anne Wilde, aged 27, of Baslow Close, Derbyshire, took her daughter to watch the teen heartthrobs play the Etihad Stadium on Friday May 30 but fell during the live show and banged her head.
As paramedics attempted to help her she bit one on the shoulder and had to be restrained.
Detective Constable Dave Berry said the 27-year-old mum had ‘failed in her duty as a role model’ in front of her young daughter in the ‘inexcusable’ incident.
He said: “I hope this incident has acted as a sobering warning for Wilde, who not only failed in her duty as a role model in front of her daughter, but who inexcusably bit a paramedic who was just trying to help her.
“The NHS takes a zero tolerance approach to abuse and assaults on its staff, a stance fully supported by the police and we will work with all partners to ensure anyone who attacks members of the emergency services is brought to justice.”
Wilde, who admitted assault, was handed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for one year at Manchester Magistrates Court on Monday December 1.
She was also ordered to pay the victim £200 compensation and ordered to carry out unpaid work.
