Train strikes to affect Northern Rail services on three days in November

Northern Rail services will be affected next week as a result of strike action from the RMT union, continuing on Saturday 5 November.

Northern customers have been advised not to travel across three days this month – Saturday 5, Monday 7 and Wednesday 9 November.

On these strike days, people have been advised to only travel if necessary and, if they do, to expect severe disruption and delays.

Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said: “We apologise for the significant disruption and inconvenience this action by the RMT will cause for the customers.

“We all want to see an end to this dispute and hope that discussions between the industry and trade unions will lead to a resolution soon so that we can avoid disruptive strikes in the future.”

Services are also expected to be limited and very affected on Sunday 6, Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 November, especially in the morning.

Some people have taken to Twitter to express their frustrations on this month’s strikes:

These strikes come as RMT union members are walking out as part of the ongoing row over pay and working conditions.
