Terrified teenagers threatened at gunpoint in Oldham quad bike robbery attempt

By Marios Papaloizou

Two teenagers have been subjected to a terrifying ordeal after being held up at gun-point in Oldham.

The stick up occurred on June 26 at 7.30pm on Bisley Street, Oldham.

The teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were riding on a scooter and a quad bike when a silver Alfa Romeo pulled in front of them.

A man climbed out of the car brandishing a silver handgun and demanded that the keys to the quad bike were handed over.

Detective Constable Andrew Swettenham, based at Oldham Police Station, said: “From what the witnesses have told us, we believe there were up to four or five men in the car and one of them got out to threaten the teenager.”

The petrified victim took the keys and ran home; when he returned a short time later to retrieve the bike the offenders were waiting and a chase ensued.

The car then made off towards Manchester Street and no one was injured.

“The victim did not know whether the gun was genuine or a replica and was understandably terrified, causing him to run off.

“A number of cars stopped after the incident and I would appeal to them or anyone else who saw what happened to contact us.”

The offender is white, of large build, wore a dark hooded top and scarf covering the bottom of his face.

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 8965 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
