A man’s jaw was broken after he was sent flying with a single punch in a violent Ashton-under-Lyne pub attack.
The incident occurred at the Prince of Orange pub, Warrington Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, at around 10.15pm on Sunday March 2.
Greater Manchester Police have released CCTV footage of the offender, before and after he viciously knocked the victim unconscious.
Before the incident the 33-year-old victim was relaxing in the pub with a friend when he witnessed the break out of a fight, in which one man was pinned up against the wall.
He then tried to intervene and began to talk to the man who was pinned up when suddenly the offender punched him in the face, briefly knocking him out.
Police are appealing to the public to find the offender.
Detective Constable Sharon Hilton, based at Ashton, said: “This man was trying to act as peacemaker when he was punched in the face for his trouble.
“He made no attempt to takes sides and had simply wanted to help calm the situation down.
“He was felled with a punch of such force that it momentarily knocked him out. The blow shattered his jaw.

“I now want people to take a look at the CCTV images and tell us if you know who the suspect is.”
When he regained his senses he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he received treatment for a suspected broken jaw.

The offender was described as white, in his 30s, over 6ft tall with dark hair and wearing a zipped-up bomber jacket.
