A Bolton nursery is being told to buck up its ideas after Ofsted blasted its hygiene and safety standards in a report published last week.
Shining Stars, of Canning Street, was criticised for allowing two-year-old children to play with small toys – a potential choking risk.
The report also pointed out poor hygiene standards – particularly in relation to handwashing, meal-times and sleep-times – while children are too often distracted from learning.
However, Inspector Vickie Halliwell noted the children have developed warm relationships with staff, who work closely with parents.
But she warned the nursery must ‘minimise the hazards’ to children and promote better cleanliness against infection to meet the government’s Early Years Foundation Stage requirement.
A Bolton Council spokesman said: “We are aware of this report and have already met with the manager and staff of the nursery.
“We have put a detailed action plan in place and will be working with them to address all issues raised in the report.”
The nursery were unavailable for comment.
