Old Trafford’s Red Cafe is opening throughout December for people without a warm, safe place to go during the continuing cost of living crisis.
Opening on December 5 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm every Monday and Wednesday the scheme is open to everyone and free of charge with free hot drinks and snacks.
Collette Roche, United’s CEO said: “Whether Christmas is part of people’s life or not, the festive period can be a difficult time for many.
“It’s a time of year that puts extra pressure on people and can affect mental health and wellbeing in lots of different ways.”
The scheme comes as part of the club’s work with local charities such as Manchester Mind and the council to deliver initiatives that help the Trafford community.
Eleanor Road, Director of Public Health for Trafford Council said: “I’m delighted that Manchester United are opening their Red Cafe and providing this space with hot snacks and drinks.
“This helps to show how football is at the heart of our borough.”
