The Warehouse Project named one of the best clubs in the world

A popular Manchester venue has been named one of the best clubs in the world by one of the biggest names in the UK dance music scene.

The Warehouse Project, in Depot Mayfield, secured eighth place in the 100-strong shortlist in this year’s DJ Mag awards.

It is one of the only two entries in the north of England to make the shortlist and joins other UK clubs Digital Newcastle, SWG3 in Glasgow, and London venues Fabric, KOKO and Printworks.

DJ Mag described The Warehouse Project as a concept that “flipped the British nightlife script” when it launched in 2006 because of its seasonal format.

Depot Mayfield, a disused railway depot abandoned since 1960, was transformed into the event’s main venue in 2019.

The 10,000-capacity venue has “transformed a half-forgotten corner of the city”, DJ Mag said.

This is The Warehouse Project’s best result in the shortlist since its first entry in 2013.

More than 600,000 people voted in this year’s Top 100 poll and the award ceremony is set to take place soon in London’s The Steel Yard on December 15.

Hï Ibiza, in Spain, secured the top spot, closely followed by Printworks London which claimed number four.
