The father of a woman who was knocked down and killed in Salford on Saturday has paid tribute to his ‘kind and caring’ daughter.
Jennifer Cross, 36, from Salford, was hit by a car near to Bank Lane, Irlam o’ th’ Heights at around 5.35pm and shortly died after being taken to hospital.
Her father, Steve Cross, said although Jennifer had special needs and dealt with numerous medical problems growing up she ‘got on with life’.
He said: “Jenny was a very special person who had the ability to light up a room. She was loved so much by all of her family who will miss her greatly.
“Jenny had a great love of animals and kept a number of different animals as pets. She was always meticulous in the way she cared for them and gave them a huge amount of love.
“Jenny was a very kind and caring person and loved her family, especially the children.”
Police are now investigating the incident and appealing to drivers who they believe may have had to avoid her on the road before she was killed.
Police Constable Ed Lister said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family of Jenny at this terrible time and we have specially trained officers supporting them throughout the ordeal.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have been driving on that section of the East Lancs Road last night at the time of the collision.
“We believe some drivers may have had to avoid her and if you were one of them, I would urge you to come forward.”
