Discover the best bonfire and firework displays that are taking place near Manchester in 2023.
While some of the city’s biggest bonfire events are not taking place due to Manchester City Council cancelling the displays because of rising costs, other councils and organisations are still putting on displays nearby.
There are still plenty of firework displays that are still available near Salford, Trafford, Stockport and the city centre – offering everything from live music and funfairs.
Here are some of the best…
Salford
Buile Hill Park
Salford City Council is hosting its own Bonfire Night on Saturday 4 November at Buile Hill Park on Eccles Old Road.
The event kicks off with a firework display for children at 5:30pm, a firecracker display at 6:30pm, and then the main firework show at 7:30pm.
Throughout the night there will be live performances from Krin with a combination of African rhythms and analogue synths, street-smart indie-pop newcomer Alex Spencer and a New York Brass Band, as well as Pops Roberts hosting and DJ the event.
The event is completely free and features a Fire Walk throughout the park and an onsite funfair with food and drink options available.
Prince’s Park Irlam
On Sunday, November 5, Salford City Council will carry on their celebrations at Prince’s Park, on Liverpool Road.
The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and there will be a firework display lasting about 15 minutes with food and drink to enjoy.
Trafford
Bowdon Bonfire
Bowden Cricket Hockey and Squash Club will host a ‘fun-filled’ evening on Friday 3 November on South Downs Road, which will put on three different firework displays.
The children’s display will begin at 7pm, followed by a second display at 8pm and the grand finale at 8:45pm.
A kid’s funfair, BBQ and different bars will be there as well as toffee apples and a sweet stall.
Tickets can be bought here, and are priced at £8 for children (aged 3-13), £15 for adults and £40 for a family of four.
Stretford Cricket Club Bonfire and Firework Display
Stretford Cricket Club’s Bonfire Night will host the event in Stretford on 5 November and will feature two firework displays.
The first firework display will begin at 6pm and the second at 8pm with the bonfire lighting time still to be confirmed.
The prices of tickets are £3 for children (under 16), £6 for adults and £15 for a family of four.
Ashton on Mersey Sports Club
On Sunday, 5 November Ashton on Mersey RUC will host their annual firework night.
The gates will open at 5:30pm with hot food served from 6pm with the bonfire being lit at the same time.
Tickets can be bought n the door at £5 per adult, or £15 for two adults and two children – cash only.
Stockport
Bramhall Firework and Music Festival
In association with ABC trailers, Stockport Rugby Club are bringing the ‘biggest’ and ‘best’ fireworks event to Stockport on Friday 3 November in Bramhall.
The event will celebrate its 7th year and will display two firework shows, a children’s spectacular and a ‘best of British’ main display.
Happy Radio will be hosting the main stage, with DJ Darren Procter leading the night’s event as well as live acts, Daisy Kate, Ignite Fire Dancers and ukulele boyband, Ukebox making an appearance.
Gates will open at 5:30pm with the children’s display at 7:30pm and the main fireworks display at 8:30pm.
Tickets are £12.50 for adults, £7.50 for children (aged 3-16) and £35 for a family of four which can be purchased here. There is a limited number of VIP tickets available.
Marple Bonfire
The 51st annual Marple Bonfire and Fireworks display will be held on Saturday, 4 November at Brabyns Park.
The event is organised by Marple Scouts and GirlGuiding Marple, with all funds dedicated to providing young people with adventurous opportunities.
Gates open at 6pm, and the Bonfire Lighting Procession will begin at 7pm, with the firework display starting shortly after.
Adult prices are £8.50, children’s tickets are £5 and under 5’s go free. Tickers can be purchased here.
Stockport Cricket Club, Fireworks, Bonfire and Fair
Stockport Cricket Club will host their annual bonfire and fireworks display on Saturday 4 November.
The family-friendly bonfire will open its gates at 5pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the fireworks display will take place at 8pm.
The event is not ticketed and entry will cost £7 for adults and £3 for children at the gate – accepting both cash and card.
Woodford Community Centre Bonfire
The annual Bonfire Night will take place on Sunday 5 November at Woodford War Memorial Community Centre and will see a children’s firework display, bonfire, a main firework show, fairground rides and hot food and drink.
Guests are invited to come down to the community centre for 6pm where the bonfire will be lit at 6:30pm, followed by the children’s firework display at 7pm and the main show at 8:15pm.
The adult entry fee is £16, £5 for under 16’s and £30 for a family ticket of five. Under three’s are welcome for free.
Tea, coffee, mulled wine, draught beer and soft drinks will be on sale during the evening. More information can be found here.
Manchester and the City Centre
Freight Island Bonfire Weekend
Freight Island is presenting their fireworks and fire garden night at Mayfield Park across the weekend.
The event will take place across three sessions on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November in collaboration with Walk the Plank.
There will also be a Fire Garden where there will be flame-lined paths, fire-breathing copper flowers, flaming flower boxes, and scorching sculptural trees.
The early session on Saturday, 4 November opens at 5:30pm, with the show starting at 6:30pm, and the late session opens at 7:30pm, with the show starting at 8:30pm.
The Sunday show opens at 6pm and the show begins at 7pm.
Adult tickets are £12, child tickets (16 and under) are £8 and under two’s are free. Family tickets for four can be bought for £35.
Carlton Club Fireworks Display
The firework display at Whalley Range, The Carlton Club will be taking place on Saturday 4 November.
The event will kick off at 3pm with a range of indoor family fun activities with the fireworks set to take place at around 7:30pm.
Following the display, there will be a club night hosted by Home on the Range organiser & DJ Matt Worden.
Tickets begin at £5 and can only be available to buy behind the bar of the club.
