A gun-wielding thief swiped substantial amount of money and left a man with facial injuries after striking him during an armed raid at an estate agents in Bury yesterday.
Two offenders burst into the premises at Pearson Ferrier estate agents on Walmersley Road at about 4.35pm on July 31.
The pair, who were armed with a silver handgun and a wrench, forced one member of staff into a back room area while the other staff members were kept separate.
The gun-toting thief struck one of the members of staff in the face and the crooks then fled in a green Mazda with a substantial amount of money.
Detective Sergeant Ian Partington said: “These criminals were intent on causing as much fear and intimidation as possible and even went as far as to strike one of the staff members.
“Understandably, everyone who works at this estate agents is absolutely shocked and appalled what happened.
“For their peace of mind, we need to find these dangerous men and I would appeal to anyone who has information about what happened to come forward.
“I want to reassure people living and working in this community that this is an isolated incident, the likes of which in this area are rare, but nevertheless we need to find the offenders.”
Police are now searching for anyone who has information to come forward.
“In particular, I would like to appeal to anyone who either saw these men going in or out of the estate agents, or who has information about the movements of the green Mazda before and after this violent robbery.”
