Manchester teenager dies from severe head injuries – suspect due before Bury court for manslaughter

A teenager who was found with severe head injuries in the early hours of Saturday morning has died.

Wesley Clutterbuck, 19, from Whitworth, was found by police who were called out after receiving reports of a man being assaulted.

The police believe that an argument took place between Wesley and another man, now identified as Reece Key, in which Wesley was punched in the face and knocked to the ground.

Wesley was immediately taken to hospital however, his life support machine was turned off on Sunday afternoon.

Detective Inspector Andy Aston said: “Tragically Wesley suffered injuries from which he was not able to recover.”

Reece Key, 20, was charged with manslaughter and is due to appear before Bury Magistrates’ Court today.

The assault has been described as an isolated incident and so GMP will not be looking for anyone else in connection with the crime.

The police are still looking for information and would like to speak with anyone who was in the area who may have information about what happened.

A police spokesman said: “If you were in the Fleece Street area in the early hours of Saturday morning please call us.”
