CCTV: Moments leading up to teacher’s stabbing when breaking up Didsbury bar fight – police seek help

By Marios Papaloizou

CCTV footage of the moments leading up to the shocking stabbing of a good Samaritan on St Patrick’s Day is being released by police in an attempt to capture his attackers.

The 25-year-old Stockport primary school teacher attempted to break up a fight outside a bar in Didsbury.

The teacher, who wishes only to be named as Sam for fear of reprisals, was stabbed in the back – he was later told by doctors that he is lucky to be alive.

Detective Constable Chris Clarke from the West Didsbury police station said: “This was a violent attack on a good Samaritan who was merely concerned for another man and tried to stop him being assaulted.”

The attack, which took place at O’Neill’s bar in Didsbury on Sunday March 17 at 11.05pm, has seen the arrests of two men, aged 33 and 36; however, police are still searching for another man and a woman.

The CCTV footage shows a white man with a shaved head, wearing a cream jacket, light blue jumper, and a pair of sunglasses on top of his head.

The man, who is thought to have been with the two suspects already arrested, is accompanied by a blonde woman wearing a knee length red coloured dress.

They are both thought to be local and police are appealing for any information that could assist them in the identification of the pair.

All of the suspects left the scene together although it is thought that they took separate taxis.
