He was rushed to hospital with a head injury after police were called to Queens Park Road shortly after 3.30pm following reports of a collision.

They found the boy has been hit by a Volkswagen Up.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area as Queens Park Road has been closed between the junctions of Bury and Rochdale Old Road and Heywood Hall Road.

He was air lifted to hospital and no-one else is believed to be injured.
