Sandbach’s historic cobbled square hosted its annual Christmas lights switch on this weekend.
Local musicians played Christmas tunes during the day as a festive lead-up to the five o’clock switch on.
The Sandbach Animal Rescue Society and Age UK were among the charity stalls set up for the occasion, whilst Santa and a man-sized Cheshire Cat roamed the square spreading holiday cheer.
The mayor of Sandbach said: “Sandbach is the town that it is because of events like these”
One woman, a Sandbach resident for 56 years, said she thought there should be more of these unifying events.
She said: “It shouldn’t just be at Christmas time, [it] should be all year round.”
Sonny Jacobs went to Sandbach for the switch on for Mancunian Matters.
