Row of beer taps in a pub

The five best spots in Manchester city centre for alcohol free beer

With a Bank Holiday weekend on the doorstep, we’re all making plans to catch up with friends, enjoy a drink with the office and even take shelter from the hectic Arndale shopping.

So, needless to say the pubs will be busy.

Of course, there’s plenty to choose from across the city too, but what about for the non-drinkers?

More and more people are abstaining from alcohol these days, whether it be for health reasons or through suffering from alcohol addiction, which is affecting so many.

Rehabs around the north are seeing record numbers entering as they look to get their lives back on track.

But whatever the reason for not drinking, chances are you may want to join your friends for a pint, albeit a 0% one. Which isn’t often the easiest task.

However, there are some great bars and pubs across town offering fantastic non-alcoholic options to.

So, if you’re after a now or low alcohol beer, here’s where you should be taking your friends.

Feel Good Club

The Northern Quarter hotspot is perhaps more known for its brunch and coffee, which in itself is a great non-alcoholic alternative, but you’ll also find that there’s non-alcoholic beers on the taps in the form of Brooklyn Special Effects.

There are also some options in the fridge, while there’s also a range of juices and soft drinks too.

Northern Monk Refectory

Sticking to the same end of town, and in fact a minute walk away, Northern Monk are really excelling in the non-alcoholic market.

The Leeds-based brewery has a 0.5% version of their popular IPA Faith (Holy Faith), as well as Striding Edge, a 2.9% hazy IPA.

However, the bar also has their Holy Hop Water in the fridges, which is essentially sparkling hop water infused with different flavours.

They currently have a mango flavour and a sabro infused one. Believe us, they’re well worth trying.

Sandbar

Over on Oxford Road, Sandbar is a real institution in the city and one of the real hidden gems pub wise.

You can wash down one of their excellent pizzas with a Lucky Saint, on draft. Yes please.

Lucky Saint has found itself as one of the best non-alcoholic lagers around and while you’ll find it in bottles across many of the city’s bars, it’s only in a few on tap.

There are some good options in the fridges too, while the whole atmosphere of Sandbar is perfect for a winter gettogether with friends.

Outside of Sandbar you’ll also find Lucky Saint on draft in Canvas at Circle Square, The Salutation and Refuge, all within a short walk of each other.

Port Street Beer House

Naturally, you’re going to find some good options at Port Street.

They offer beers from all around the country, and even world, in all manner of styles, and that’s the same for the 0% too.

If you’re looking for something a little more exciting, while there’s no draft option, you’ll be able to get your hands on some non-alcoholic stouts, sours, NIPAs, as well as your pales and lagers.

Work your way through the fridges without a hangover.

Cafe Beermoth

The ultimate escape from Market Street, Cafe Beermoth has a good selection of alcohol free beers in the fridges, and the perfect setting to relax and chill out with friends.

You’d expect nothing less really from a bar that offers a wealth of world beers, while you’ve also got the new Pomona Island bar, North Western Ho around the corner, which also has a solid range of non-alcoholic beers and ciders.
