These Japanese-inspired robes have been a style up-and-comer for several summers now, but this year it’s really kim-ono into its own.
Here at MM we’ve trawled the Manchester high street to find you the best selection of kimonos at the best prices.
They’re practical in the warm weather, come in all colours and designs and the relaxed oversized fit means they are flattering for all figures.
They’re the height of festival fashion and fit in perfectly with the ubiquitous draped and tasselled look.
Kimonos are perfect for the summer months providing sun coverage while staying light and cool on the shoulders.

And practicalities aside these little gems sport some of the most stunning embellishments with fashion designers taking inspiration from the East, offering a touch of glamour to even the plainest of outfits.
Celebrities such as Nicole Richie, Alexa Chung and Miley Cyrus have all been spotted wearing exquisite high-end embellished kimono jackets, but there are plenty of more affordable options out there for those of us with a little less dough at our disposal.
So without much further ado let us introduce you to the kimonos that caught our eye this week in Manchester.
First off on our kimono expedition was affordable fashion palace Primark, on Market Street.
Their offerings ticked all the boxes on our kimono list and had a wide variety of styles, tassels and price tags.
Next up was Miss Selfridge, here we loved this floral kimono duster jacket. This fashion-forward piece proves that they can also be office appropriate paired with tailored trousers or a pencil skirt and shouldn’t just be relegated to the casual cover-up camp.
Over at Quiz we spotted some lovely tasselled finds combining the perennial floral trend with all things fringed – perfect for flinging on over a pair of jeans and heels.
Oasis have some glorious heavyweight kimonos, just the trick when the sun goes down and a cocktail or two are calling on cooler summer nights.
Sumptuous colours, fabrics and detailing make this River Island offering an absolute must-have.
Pricier than its other high street counterparts, this gorgeous kimono will provide the ultimate bohemian edge to your ensemble.
But it’s not just the high street that has these Eastern-inspried delights on offer, it’s well worth checking out what the Northern Quarter’s vintage shops have to offer.
