In a week that saw Manchester United slip to yet another embarrassing defeat many people are voicing concerns over David Moyes’ ability to manage one of the world’s most famous teams.
This season has already seen the sacking of several managers – trigger-happy Fulham currently on their THIRD – and many think Moyes is on very thin ice.
After being dumped out of both domestic cups, as well as facing an early exit from the Champions League, many are worried that he is destroying the reputation of the team as one of the most feared in world football.
The club are denying all rumours that he is to be sacked in the near future but it’s clear that a lot of people are wishing him to go.
MM took to the streets to ask the people of Manchester ‘should David Moyes be sacked?’

Stuart, 44, recently made redundant from Droylesden, said: “He needs to be given at least 18 months. We need to change things; half of the team needs to go. We need young blood. It’s the players’ fault, not the manager’s.”
Angelina, 36, a beauty therapist also from Droylesden said: “They said this about Fergie and if they hadn’t left him in charge United wouldn’t be where they are now. Moyes needs to get more time.”
Not everyone was so favourable to Moyes. Peter, 22, a student from Switzerland, said: “I’m a Blues fan. I hate Moyes. I hate his offensive tactics. He needs to play through the middle and not always use the wingers. He needs to go.
Jamie, 21, a Fallowfield-based student, had a similar opinion. “He isn’t as good as Fergie and United are a bit of a joke.” However, she believes the club should wait until the end of the season before giving him the sack.
Long-time fan John, 70, retired from Oldham wasn’t quite as lenient. “I’ve not seen United this bad in ages. Everyone is laughing at us. We need loads of new players but I don’t think anyone will join us in the summer because nobody wants to play with Moyes as their manager.”
But for the most part with this short survey Mancunians were in favour of keeping the manager on and giving him more time.
“He needs a lot a longer. It’s hard to step into Fergie’s shoes especially because he won so much and was there for ages,” said 23-year-old retail assistant Alex from Eccles.
Others were a bit more enthusiastic about the man himself. Charlotte, 24, a retail assistant from Fallowfield, said: “Aww I love Moyes! I love his accent! Yeah, I want him to stay!”
