Mini railway family fun day on track to make a big donation

Brookside Miniature Railway’s annual charity fun day returned – after raising £3,500 last year.

On Sunday March 9, a fundraiser was held inside the Brookside Garden Centre, for Francis House Children’s Hospice based in Didsbury.

All proceeds from the train fares – at £2.50 a ticket, for all ages – a mini fairground and other attractions will help support seriously ill children and their families.

Kate Puc, fundraising officer for Francis House said: “We were absolutely delighted to be asked to be the charity beneficiary from today’s event as we did last year.”

The hospice provides care for around 300 children across Greater Manchester – “It’s a wonderful place for all the family to come and enjoy respite care, make memories and have a good time together,” she added.

She told MM the team were hopeful nearly £5,000 had been raised at Brookside, as the event was even busier this time around.
