Manchester Game of Thrones fans have been treated to a mural of Tyrion Lannister by graffiti guru Akse.
The French artist courted controversy last year with his catalogue of Breaking Bad murals which popped up all over the Northern Quarter last year.
He has now turned his attention to the hugely-popular HBO show Game of Thrones by depicting the much-maligned member of the Lannister family in Hulme.
Akse told MM: “Although I really enjoyed the series this is only a one off. Tyrion is definitely my favourite character as he is smart and witty so I thought he deserved a tribute.
GAME OF THRONES TRIBUTE: Akse pays homage to Tyrion
“I won’t be doing any others but Peter Dinklage as Tyrion just stood out for me.”
The new mural located in Hulme is one of the many detailed portraits that can be found around the city which feature the likes of Jack Nicholson, Anthony Hopkins and James Gandolfini.
The works that are dotted across Manchester have catapulted Akse into a a house-hold name in the graffiti art world.
Despite the popularity of the series Akse doesn’t expect the portrait to take off in the same way as his Breaking Bad works.
He said: “I doubt it will reach the virality of the Breaking Bad ones, the reason being that the show is not as popular.
FAN FAVOURITE: Tyrion Lannister immortalised in spray paint
“But it has already spread online and the fans are appreciating the tribute. It has been posted on reddit the day I painted it and been posted by many street art social media communities on Instagram and Facebook.”
The new series of Game of Thrones hit screens earlier this month and in just three seasons Peter Dinklage has portrayed the universally-loved character of Tyrion with great aplomb.
“I only know Peter Dinklage for Game of Thrones, but I’m blown away by his character and performance. I definitely intend to watch other movies he’s in,” he said.
“I think he already is iconic, at least from what I can see from the feedback on my artwork, the Game of Thrones fans love him.”
