Manchester’s ‘one-of-a-kind’ charity firewalk is returning – for those brave enough to face the flames

We Love MCR’s fundraising firewalk is set to return this November, for the first time in two years.

In 2021, the charity hosted the first firewalk Manchester’s city centre had ever seen, when 50 brave ‘soles’ took on the lane of fire.

A total of £18,000 was raised for We Love MCR’s main funding programmes which helps support disadvantaged young Mancunians and local community projects.

As part of their ongoing daring fundraising events, the charity is bringing the firewalk back on Thursday, 2 November.

This year the event will give 100 volunteers the chance to face the coals, across two lanes of fire – making it bigger and better than ever.

Taking place in St Peter’s Square, the one-of-a-kind event will also feature the Samba Reggae sound of Notting Hill Carnival’s 2023 Winners, Batala Manchester.

Ruth Denton, who was 2021’s top fundraiser said: “I can honestly say the We Love MCR firewalk has been one of the best things I’ve done in a long time. I’d encourage anyone looking for a mind-over matter challenge to sign-up.”

“It’s amazing to think I’ve raised so much money for such an amazing charity, and I have witnessed first-hand the amazing work We Love MCR does.” she added.

We Love MCR is hoping to top the incredible amount of money raised in 2021, asking every volunteer to set a minimum sponsorship target of £200.

Registration includes a £20 entry fee to cover expert training costs, and you must be over the age of 16 to apply.

Sign-ups are open now on the We Love MCR website.

So, do you think you’re up for the challenge?
