Thousands of tennis fans flocked to Manchester’s Spinningfields to watch Andy Murray’s historic Wimbledon win yesterday – the first British man to win since Fred Perry in 1936.
Delighted spectators saw the Brit topple World No.1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets at the world-famous tennis ground in searing temperatures which nudged towards 50°C.
Eleanor Mulcaster watched the final from a gloriously sunny Manchester.
She tweeted: “Couldn’t think of a better place to be right now than @spinningfields to enjoy the tennis except Wimbledon itself! Atmosphere is amazing.”
