Greater Manchester Police, GMP, has held an event to engage with the LGBTQ+ community while Manchester City Council have sought to rectify graffiti and vandalism in the area, as part of its action plan.
It comes as LGBTQ+ and other minority protections are under attack in many countries, leaving gender and sexual minority brits wandering what the future holds.
The latest GMP figures (Feb 2025) for hate crime and incidents in Greater Manchester, based on sexual orientation, remain high at over 100.
The first month in almost four years, with these crimes and incidents in double figures, 99, was recorded in December last year.
Since November 2020 the monthly amount has held in triple digits. These are only the crimes and incidents the force are aware of.
More engagement events, at the LGBT Foundation where you can give direct feedback on policing in the Gay Village and for the LGBTQ+ community, are expected in the near future.
