Manchester Pride 2013 scrap booking fees – making Big Weekend tickets cheaper than last year

By Kim Richards

Manchester Pride are scrapping booking fees as they embark on a new partnership with Quaytickets for the 2013 festival.

A Big Weekend ticket will cost just £16 for the whole weekend, and with no booking fee festival-goers will pay less for a ticket than in 2012.

Now in its 23rd year, the charity has raised over £1million for LGBT community groups and those living with, or affected by, HIV.

This year’s festival also sees the introduction of e-ticketing for the Big Weekend, which takes place over August Bank Holiday.

“We are pleased to be working with Quaytickets, the trading arm of The Lowry, this year,” said Chief Executive for Manchester Pride, John Stewart.

“By scrapping booking fees, we have put together a package that will see the final online purchase price cut compared to last year, while we have also reduced the price of Monday tickets.

“With e-tickets available for the first time, further savings will be available to anyone choosing to have their ticket delivered electronically.

“We are looking forward to the first official announcement of exciting artists on Thursday 25 April, ahead of tickets going on sale the following day.”

Early bird Tickets for the Big Weekend will go on sale Friday April 26, with only a limited number available, so prospective gig-goers are asked to act quickly before they are snapped-up.

Other events across the festival include Pride Fringe, The Manchester Pride Parade with the event closing with The George House Trust Candlelit Vigil in Sackville Gardens on August 26.
