Singer and style icon Sam Sparro has joined the star-studded line-up for this year’s Manchester Pride Big Weekend.
The Grammy-nominated musician will join an impressive line-up for August Bank Holiday Weekend – rubbing shoulders with Kate Nash, Rylan, The Feeling, Patrick Wolf and Rowetta of Happy Mondays fame.
The Main Arena stage’s Saturday night roster will also feature Moto Blanco, a popular production duo known for their remixes of hits by superstars such as Adele, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
Manchester Pride Chief Executive John Stewart said: “We are delighted to welcome Sam Sparro, who completes our Saturday night Big Weekend line-up, and underlines Manchester Pride’s commitment to showcasing LGBT artists.”
He added: “The Saturday night bill looks set to be one of the many highlight of this summer’s Manchester Pride festival!”
Sam Sparro’s smash hit ‘Black and Gold’ sold over 100,000 copies in the UK in 2008.
Manchester Pride has raised over £1million for LGBT and HIV community groups since 2003.
Chair of Manchester Pride, Vicken Couligian, said: “Every penny we raise goes to local good causes and none of this is possible without the ticket-buying public, who help make this the highlight of our summer.”
Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend runs from Friday August 23 to Monday August 26 and will mark the climax of the annual festival.
The Big Weekend will also offer its tens of thousands of visitors a diverse range of market and expo stalls.
