Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend is one of indulgence for many – but there are few more indulgent things on offer than this rainbow-coloured treat.
A calorific brownie, lovingly crafted by Hey Little Cupcake!, is celebrating Manchester and one of the UK’s biggest LGBT festivals in chocolatey excess.
The sweet treat, made up of brownie, milk chocolate and no fewer than SIX layers of fruit-flavoured buttercream, will join the delicious Pride cupcake created by the patisserie.
The cake shop has definitely risen to the occasion and Pride participants will be able to get their hands on the colourful confection from their Spinningfields stall on the Parade route.
Store owner and cake goddess Sarah told MM: “We’ve supported Manchester Pride ever since we opened four years ago, and were so excited to add this to our collection.
“We love being a part of Pride celebrations, embracing the event and supporting the LGBT community, it’s such a big deal in the city and we always have such an amazing day.”
The city has gone rainbow crazy this week, with Greater Manchester Police unveiling their first rainbow-coloured car ahead of Manchester Pride.
Despite mixed reviews the police are happy with their latest vehicle which is part of an initiative to drive down hate crime in the Manchester.
Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd said: “Decking a police car out in rainbow colours isn’t just a colourful statement – it’s a bold one. It shows that GMP is on the side of equality. I also hope it will give confidence to any victim of hate crime to come forward and report it.”
Rainbow fever is clearly sweeping the city and people can get a taste of the cake shop’s latest offerings from August 1 at their ship on Little Quay Street, Spinningfields.
The little slices of heaven are definitely a friend to the taste buds, but not the waistline, and Sarah is keeping her cards very close to her chest on the calorie content.
With a laugh she said: “We don’t talk about that, but they always go down a real treat and they are made to share!”
By the look of the decadent desserts, punters won’t want to give any up, although the proof will be in the pudding.
