Black Milk Cereal is opening another one of their unique cereal cafés this week on Oldham Street in Northern Quarter, a place renowned for its independent businesses and quirky shops at every corner.
Being the first cereal café in Manchester, Black Milk Cereal further diversified the already thriving Affleck’s Palace when they started their business around this time two years ago, and now they’re spreading their name onto the streets of Northern Quarter.
Now full of alternative and bohemian culture, Northern Quarter has risen from the ruins of industrial neglect to be the eccentric and diverse area that it is today.
Black Milk Cereal will be right at home in the buzzing back streets of central Manchester.

The new café is filled with classics like ‘Easter Feast’ (main picture above) which is half a Cadbury’s Easter egg filled with ingredients like Cookie Crisp, Krave, Nesquik and then topped off with a homemade brownie and coated in delicious chocolate milk.
But it doesn’t stop there, customers are free to combine their own ingredients choosing everything from cereal to toppings to the flavour of milk. What more could you want?
Black Milk Cereal not only offer sugar boosts, they also stock healthier options such as the ‘Usain Bowl’ which consists of Fuel, Weetabix protein, Country Crisp Strawberry topped with strawberry, banana, yoghurt and fruit compote while they also have creamy porridge as well.
One of the owners of the Black Milk Cereal, Andrew Young, told MM that the idea came from the nostalgic memories he has of growing up in the USA.
“I used to live in America when I was younger so I loved all the retro cereals.
“We’ve always loved food and worked in restaurants and cafes throughout life… so it’s just what we enjoy.”
The new Oldham Street store is set captivate a wider range of customers due to their later opening hours, more accessible parking and their bigger retro-inspired café.
They’ve got a bigger shop, bigger ideas and even bigger menu.
“We just try to have the most extravagant menu possible. We’re bringing on a pastry chef to make even more extravagant desserts and we’re always trying to do one better.”
“We always try and do exciting stuff so people remain interested.”
With a whopping 28.2k followers on Instagram, their social media presence and Mancunians’ demand for all things sweet boasts that Black Milk Cereal is here to stay.
Keep your eyes peeled because Black Milk Cereal already have plans to expand further.
