World-renowned chef Jean-Christophe Novelli teamed up with Aldi to present a Festive Feast at Manchester’s Great John Hotel on Monday night.
‘Christmas with all the Trimmings’ was the theme for the Michelin-standard dinner, made exclusively from Aldi products, and it certainly did not fail to bring about that holiday cheer.

The dimmed lights, warm Christmas decor and fine scents of wood, kindled a welcoming atmosphere and an air of anticipation for the seasonal treat that was soon to come.
The feast began with a King Crab Meli Melo. Sharp accents of caviar paired with sun dried vine tomatoes, added layers of complexity that demonstrated Novelli’s skill for creating a masterpiece.
Starter verdict: very nice, despite me being a bit of a salad dodger. #AldiFestiveFeast pic.twitter.com/e38CQAYNLk

The main was a juicy and tender Turkey Wellington served alongside a carefully-crafted portion of stuffed cabbage bursting with well-developed flavours and delicately seasoned. It was simple, yet delicious.

An additional, small accompaniment of sweet turnip mashed potatoes was beautifully moulded into light whipped clouds that formed a smooth, sweet sensation. It brought truth to the old adage, ‘it’s the small things that make a difference’.
An unreal tasting main, Turkey Wellington! #AldiFestiveFeast @AldiUK pic.twitter.com/PpyMCDPtXu

Although service at time appeared inconsistent, the merry atmosphere and great-tasting food eclipsed this, leaving guests pleased with the overall festive experience.
For dessert a 12-month-matured Christmas pudding, sold exclusively at Aldi, was served with a cool Cornish clotted cream.
A very boozey Christmas pud and the most amazing ice cream!! #AldiFestiveFeast #tipsy pic.twitter.com/aa3cAOjtLd

The hot and cold elements were beautifully balanced and the dessert packed enough booze to satisfy even those looking for the most indulgent Christmas treat.
Aldi’s award-winning wines, the Exquisite Collection Clare Valley Riesling 2014 and the Exquisite Collection Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu, further enhanced the dining experience.

The greatest surprise, however, was left until end.
While many people might expect a five-course meal of this calibre to cost around £100, diners were surprised to learn that their festi meal only cost £20.93! This proved to be the perfect trimming to a delicious #AldiFestiveFeast.
