Marillion prepare for ‘double celebration’ as band get set to perform in Manchester

The world-renowned Marillion will be celebrating 40 years of music with a huge UK tour spanning 13 different venues – including a date with their ‘orchestra friends’ at Manchester Bridgewater Hall next month.

The tour – which will include songs from across 14 different albums – will see the legendary Steve Hogarth take to the stage as he celebrates 30 years with the band.

Hogarth’s three-decade tenure is something that’s come round fast for many fans – and even he can’t believe it.

The musician remarked: “Has it really been 30 years?! Steve R tells me it’s his 40th anniversary so it’s a double celebration! It’s amazing to be in this position after all this time.”

Marillion will be joined by the same ensemble of musicians that joined them for their sold out show at the Royal Albert Hall back in 2017, which was hailed by critics as ‘one of the best concerts in Marillion’s history.’

The shows will feature the In Praise of Folly String Quartet plus Sam Morris on French Horn and Emma Halnan on Flute, featured on select numbers throughout the show as on previous occasions.

Hogarth added: “We’ve added this wonderful six-piece to the band for this entire tour. They’re brilliant players, good friends, and the chemistry we have together has already spoken for itself.”
