Doctor-turned-comedian among those heading to Manchester’s Women in Comedy Festival

A comedian who once ran 160 miles non-stop across a desert is bringing her show to Manchester.

The 11th Women in Comedy Festival is coming to Manchester next month features more than 20 female comedians across six venues.

And among the sets will be Italian Stefania Licari’s latest show, Trust Me. I’m a Comedian.

The sell-out Edinburgh Fringe comedian started her career in comedy nine years ago while still working in the NHS.

Audiences can expect to hear about Licais experiences as an intensive care doctor, her 160 mile non-stop ultra-marathon across the Sahara as well as her experience as a migrant and female comedian.

Licari said: “I’ve overcome many challenges, but it’s a fantastic time to be a female comedian and a migrant.

“UK audiences are smart, contemporary and receptive to hearing new voices. The greatest privilege is to have a voice that audiences will listen to, this matters to me a lot, especially as a woman and a migrant.”

Audiences can see Trust Me, I’m a Comedian at The Vault at Fierce bar on October 5. Tickets are £5 and available here
