A Hale art dealer has teamed up with Manchester City stars from the past and present to showcase a stunning Lowry painting.
Clark Art gallery in Hale was the main sponsor of ‘An Evening with Manuel Pellegrini and Patrick Vieira’ at The Etihad Stadium last Thursday, in celebration of their new oil painting from revered City-supporting artist L S Lowry.
At the start of the evening, the Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini and Football Development Executive Patrick Vieira both answered questions from fans.
Gallery owner Bill Clark also gave a talk on northern art which, like the state of the Blues’ football scene, has found success.
Manchester City legends Mike Summerbee and Tommy Booth were in attendance at the prestigious dinner and, along with 150 special guests, viewed the gallery’s latest Lowry addition as well as other quality works from the north of England.
Northern artists Liam Spencer, Reg Gardner, Ben Kelly, Phil George and Stephen Campbell were all in attendance to see their paintings on show.
The art gallery brought a selection of their finest paintings to the luxurious chairman’s lounge at The Etihad. Guests at the event were able to browse the exclusive suite and admire the artwork on show.
Pellegrini also responded to questions at the dinner ahead of last night’s Manchester Derby.
United fans had hoped that they could foil their ‘noisy neighbours’ title chances as well as claiming the bragging rights.
However, Manchester City led practically from the first whistle after Edin Dzeko gave the away side the lead after 43 seconds.
United’s day went from bad to worse as they were punished 3-0 by a rampant City side and David Moyes’ men have now lost all four fixtures in the league against their closest rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City.
