As Manchester prepares for the homecoming of Courteeners in early December, the band have released a charity Christmas single and an expanded edition of 2014 album, Concrete Love.
All proceeds from the indie band’s festive offering Winter Wonderland will be donated to homeless charity Shelter, as will any donations raised during their ongoing UK tour.
The charity thanked Middleton born lead singer Liam Fray in a post on Twitter, in which they praised the ‘fantastic gesture’.
The track was first played on Radio X last week, and will feature alongside three rare EP cuts on a second disk on Concrete Love – Extra Love, set to be released on Friday November 27.
Courteneers have built up a massive following in the city since rising to fame in 2008 with debut album St Jude and a slew of successful singles including You’re Not 19 Forever, reflected in the fact that the band’s seven dates at the Manchester Apollo sold out within half an hour.
The tour will also take the band to Leeds, Stoke, Lincoln, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leicester, Wolverhampton and London, finishing with a second stint in their home city on December 19.
The winter tour follows the band’s Heaton Park headlining in the summer.
