The largest digital ceiling in Europe has been unveiled in Manchester’s Printworks following a £21 million transformation.
Hundreds of people went along to the city centre launch event last night featuring TikTok star SUAT, who played songs throughout the evening and in the city throughout the day.
The project was led by DTZ Investors, and employee Ben Haller said: “This will be a game changer for Manchester and offer something unique, the likes of which can only be seen at Freemont Street or The Sphere in Las Vegas.
“We have created a best-in-class entertainment destination on a scale never seen in the UK or Europe,” he added.
There were two different stages set up which incorporated music, entertainment and in addition to SAUT featured Capital Radio’s Wingman, Bohemian House Choir, alongside performers and dancers.
There was an initial 250 hours of content recorded to use over the course of the next 12 months.
This included content from nine actors, six dogs, a baby and a Coronation Street star who were all filmed for more than 250 hours.
As well as the digital ceiling there is also a 210 square metre piece of public art by Alex Sylt, chosen by Mancunians in a public vote, and a panel of expert judges including Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.
A digital gaming screen has been added where passers-by can use their phones to play multi-player games against each other.
