Prepare to Disconnect from the stresses of the real world and lose yourself in a night of incredible dance-pop music.
One huge party – that was the vibe of Brit award winning artist Becky Hill’s Believe Me Now Tour and her sell-out gig at the AO Arena last night did not disappoint.
To begin the night supporting artists Charlie Boon and Catching Cairo took to the stage with impressive sets.
Charlie’s performance was a clever way to set the tone for the jam packed lively event, it was a vibrant mix of catchy, classic anthems accompanied by deep bass lines.
Catching Cairo, a duo, consisting of a live DJ and female vocalist brought a different energy to the stage with a refreshing act that integrated drum and bass with breathtaking soulful vocals.
After Cairo performed her well known track “Touch” with remarkable vocals and stage presence it was time for the main event, Becky Hill herself.
If there is one thing that Becky knows to do when performing it’s control a crowd and that is certainly what she did from her opening track right until the very end, she kept the whole of the AO arena ecstatic and engaged.
As a fan of Becky Hill, and having seen her in a more intimate setting over the summer, this stadium tour was just as impressive.
She dominated the stage jumping and dancing around losing herself in the music alongside her adoring fans.
During the manic performance Becky switched between the main stage and a much smaller raised stage that was positioned in the centre of the arena, during this part of the show she was accompanied by a pianist.
Later on she brought out musical artist RILEASA to perform her hit single One Track Mind alongside her.
This was a clever move on Becky’s behalf as it gave her a chance to catch her breath after switching between the two stages and released the pressure of having to hit some impressive notes as she didn’t have to perform the difficult song solo.
Becky performed two sets and in between took the time to chat to the audience, she very honestly explained to the crowd that she wasn’t feeling 100 percent herself during the first half as she felt uncomfortable about the pleather top, black boots and grey tennis skirt that she was wearing. She referred to herself as looking like she had just ‘stepped out of a halloween shop.’
The singer also discussed further insecurities, showing just how down to earth of an artist she is. She touched on how she laughed at her manager when he told her she was going to be doing an arena tour. She felt as though no one would turn up and became quite emotional when explaining how she had filled up the whole of the AO arena.
During her speech she admitted her love for Manchester she said: “Manchester weirdly, I always feel like connected to this part of the UK”
“I just f***ing adore Mancunians.”
She also said Manchester is the “city of music” and that she felt honoured to perform there.
Becky had a great balance of her classic hits such as “Afterglow” that kick started her career at nineteen years old right through to her more recent hits including Disconnect that she created with duo Chase and Status.
She finished the night with her well known track Remember, and as pink confetti dispersed amongst the crowd the incredible night drew to an end with fans screaming with excitement over the special memory Becky Hill managed to create through what can only be described as an unbelievable performance.
