Another Mancunian takes on Love Island – PE teacher Kai Fagan is ready to find love in the South African villa.
As Love Island commences its second ever winter season, it’s time to say hello to Kai Fagan, the 24-year-old science and PE teacher and semi-professional rugby player who was born and bred in Burnage, Manchester.
Describing himself in his audition tape, Kai said he was “lighthearted, loves a laugh and is really calm and chilled”, and has admitted he’s single by choice.
He expressed his commitment to finding the right person, saying: “I’m looking for the right girl. I feel like I have quite high expectations.
“I don’t feel I should commit to someone unless I’m absolutely buzzing over them, because it’s not fair on them.”
Fagan is set to prove he’s not your stereotypical Love Island boy, proving his brains with his three different degrees from three separate universities.
The teacher, who was in the same sixth-form class as Manchester legend Marcus Rashford, said that being a school teacher has been helpful for winning the girls over – and he has even scored a few numbers of some of the mums of his pupils!
Regarding the charity work his ex-peer Rashford has carried out feeding schoolchildren, Kay says: “There are so many kids who are going to school that don’t have the right nutrition, that don’t have food, that don’t have anything.
“There are kids going to school that don’t have uniforms… So what he’s been doing for the communities, it’s absolutely amazing.”
Although Kay has handed in his resignation to go on the show, he says: “A massive part of teaching standards is developing good personalities, good relationships and positive relationships, so I think if I demonstrate that I can develop positive relationships on TV, then there’s nothing stopping me from going back to teaching in the future if that’s what I want to do.”
Twitter users have been impressed with Kai and his profession, with user @ladywhistledwn tweeting: “Kai can put me in detention any day of the week.”
You can catch Kai and the other Islanders on itv2 and ITVx every day of the week at 9pm.
