It’s an inevitable irony of Christmas time that the same films seem to dominate the TV guide year on year – that is until the moment you actually want to watch them. Well fear not, here’s a roundup of classic Christmas movies and the streaming sites to find them on for on-demand comfort watching
Love Actually
It’s everyone’s problematic fave, but you’ll need a Now TV subscription to watch Richard Curtis’ classic rom com this Christmas.
Elf
There’s room for everyone on the Nice List, but only Now TV has room for Will Ferrell as a proportionally-challenged Elf.
The Holiday
In short: young Jude Law plays charming girl dad ft roll neck jumper. Watch it on Netflix or with a premium subscription on Now TV.
Miracle on 34th Street (1947 and 1994)
Leave all cynicism at the door, this film is so beloved they made it twice and you can watch both versions on Disney+.
The Snowman and The Snowdog
This gorgeous animation and its iconic soundtrack has been a staple of British childhoods since it was first released in 1982. You can watch it, and its 30th anniversary sequel The Snowdog for free on Channel 4.
Nativity!
Movie musicals are having a bit of a moment courtesy of Wicked, but the students of Shiz have nothing on the stars of this hilarious primary-school classic. Watch it for free (with a TV license) on BBC iPlayer.
