Five unmissable Pantomimes across Greater Manchester this Christmas

There can be no excuses for getting in the festive spirit this year as Christmas fast approaches.

The Christmas markets are back and thriving in Manchester, but nothing gets families quite in the festive mood like a pantomime.

We were starved of true Christmas entertainment last year after the devastating cancellations of the live shows due to the pandemic.

But pantomimes are back with a bang this year and Greater Manchester residents are spoilt for choice.

MM has listed five pantomimes to get families into the festive spirit this year.

Aladdin – Manchester Opera House

This huge feature production stars X Factor signer Alexandre Burke, who debuts in panto as the Spirit of the Ring.

The show at the Manchester Opera House runs from December 11 to January 22 and also features Ben Nickless, Ceri Dupree and Matthew Croke.

This spectacular show guarantees live music and superb background settings; it is simply not to be missed.

Tickets are available on agtickets.com from £13.

Sleeping Beauty – Salford Arts Theatre

This popular production is suitable for the whole family and will no doubt prove popular in Salford.

The traditional pantomime is almost sold out so those interested will have to be fast to avoid missing out.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – Lowry, Salford

Salford residents are fortunate to have plenty of choice for pantomimes this year.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, produced by Sally Cookson, arrives at the popular Lowry venue after being delayed in 2020.

This lengthy show-stopping production starts on December 8 until January 15.

Tickets are available via the website.

Dick Whittington – The Plaza, Stockport

Another show to be rearranged after last year’s disappointment, Dick Whittington is expected to prove a hit at The Plaza in Stockport.

Former Coronation Street star Brian Capron plays the role of the ‘King Rat’ while Bradley Thompson also stars in the show that runs from December 3 to January 9.

Peter Pan – Octagon, Bolton

We couldn’t forget Peter Pan in the list of must-see pantomimes this Christmas.

The famous story has been produced for the bright lights by Sarah Punshon and families will have plenty of opportunity to see the show at the Octagon in Bolton.

Peter Pan runs from November 26 to January 9 and tickets can be found here.
