Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show will return to Manchester with both S Club’s Paul Cattermole and The Voice’s Liam Tamne reprising their roles.
The musical, known for its sci-fi tribute to punk rock, follows two college students as they meet Dr Frank N Furter, played by Tamne, and embark on an journey of psychedelic adventures, daring drag and sexy frolicking.
With enough hip-thrusting to rival Elvis, the musical extravaganza invites the audience to dress up in their wildest fancy dress for a ‘guaranteed party’.
Rocky Horror Show first opened in 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre, London and has since been performed in over 30 countries in more than 20 languages.
The iconic role of The Narrator, played earlier this year by O’Brien himself, will be played by Coronation Street’s Charlie Condou.
The former soap star said: “I’m so excited to be returning to the Rocky Horror Show to play The Narrator- I had such a fantastic time playing the role earlier this year so I was thrilled to be invited back.
“I’m looking forward to re-joining the wonderful cast and to seeing the brilliant audiences- who I am sure will again be keeping me on my toes.”
Just like its 1975 film adaptation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the stage musical has developed a cult following.
The 2016 UK tour of Rocky Horror Show has so far been seen by more than 230,000 people, grossing in excess of £5million at the box office since its first performance at Brighton’s Theatre Royal in December 2015.
The show, which hit Manchester in January, will be performed at Manchester Opera House from Monday, October 24 to Saturday, October 29 as part of its 40th anniversary tour.
