Tom Walker continued his autumn tour across the UK with another high class performance at O2 Victoria Warehouse, Manchester.
Following the release of his debut album What A Time To Be Alive earlier this year, Walker set off on tour in late October and has received rave reviews prior to the penultimate gig in front of this crowd consisting of all ages.
Entering the stage around 9pm, the 27-year-old immediately showcased his vocals to the adoring crowd through Angels, one of the top tunes on the album.
Styling his iconic beanie-hat look, Walker engaged with the audience by telling stories behind the inspiration for some of his new songs. Arguably the biggest applause of the night came before the hit song Just You and I, which has already received over 100 million streams on Spotify.
Walker explained how after becoming engaged last year, the song was about him and his fiancé, and how he ‘misses her’ when out on tour or recording in the studio.
Other stand out tracks from the night included Heartbeats, a beautifully written song about his childhood friends that happened to also be in attendance to the show.
Fade Away, which also features on the new album, revealed a vulnerable side to the musician as he explained that he wrote the song angrily as a 19-year-old lad. He suggested that writing songs is something he’d do to help when feeling certain emotions.
Despite claiming to be suffering from a chest infection half way through the gig, the Scottish singer insisted he ‘had to turn up for Manny’ and continued to impress the audience, who seemed to enjoy every minute of the performance.
The ending was – unsurprisingly – spectacular. The gig finished with the infamous song Leave a Light On which helped him shoot to fame back in 2017. Clearly a fan favourite, the song was sung word for word back to Tom Walker and helped bring the show to an end in the perfect way.
However it won’t be long till he is back performing in Manchester, as Walker features on the Hits Radio Live show on the November 17, in a star-studded line up consisting of Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zara Larson and many more at Manchester Arena.
