Manchester’s largest ice rink set to reopen this November

The city’s largest ice rink Skate Manchester will return to Cathedral Gardens from 8 November 2024 to 1 January 2025.

Manchester’s biggest outdoor ice rink is covered allowing skaters to enjoy the ice regardless of the weather.

Described by organisers as the “ultimate festive experience”, the rink will also have a seven-metre-tall Christmas tree as well as being located near to the Christmas markets which offer seasonal food, drinks and shopping.

A variety of skate sessions will be held – including quiet and sensory-friendly sessions – allowing all skaters of all abilities to enjoy the rink.

Additionally wheelchair users will have access to discounted tickets and two-bladed skates will be made available for inexperienced skaters.

Kelly Baker, Director of Managed Ice Rinks, said: “Skate Manchester marks the beginning of Christmas in the city for many Mancunians.”

Skate Manchester has partnered with Cash for Kids to raise money for the Mission Christmas campaign which aims to help disadvantaged children across the UK.

From 2-8 December there is a special giving week in which 10% of all ticket sales will go to Cash for Kids.

Tickets are now available , with prices starting at £14 for adults, £10 for children and discounted family tickets.
