Mancunians are set for a ‘horny’ ride around town like no other this evening as part of the city’s Pride Fringe celebrations.
Exciting new 10-piece brass band Twisted Tubes will be mixing things up on the Metrolink from 8pm, bringing their unique flair and diverse back catalogue to the people of Manchester.
The boys will be joined by a local drag act and acoustic musicians who will perform during the two-hour journey which goes to Media City and back.
Drummer for the band Sam Tunstall told MM: “Expect the unexpected, it’s going to be load of fun, it’ll be wild and wacky and we all just can’t wait!
“We are really eclectic in what we play. We’re all classically trained, but there’s a lot of hip hop influences in our stuff as well as some big house classics. We’ve also put a few guilty pleasures in there like Lady Gaga, so there’s a real mix.”
Since forming last year, the former Royal Northern College of Music graduates have been setting the music scene alight, turning traditional horn music on its head.

In just a short time, the band has had real success. They’ve performed at Snowbox musical festival in Andorra as well as British festivals Kendal Calling and Parklife.
Twisted Tubes were also spotted at Wembley Stadium and now do their thing for 90,000 people at major sporting events, including the FA Cup Final and last Sunday’s Community Shield.
Sam said: “It’s wicked to be playing to such a big crowd, and the response is always great.
“The atmosphere already electric because everybody is there to have a big day out and so it’s nice to ride off that energy and it really makes us play better.”
As well their Metrolink performance, Twisted Tubes will also be playing on the main stage during Pride at 8pm on Friday August 22, just before international superstar Anastacia.
The guys impressed crowds at the Pride fundraiser Supersonic alongside the likes of X Factor winner Sam Bailey – and now the boys are eager to get the Pride revellers moving.
“We can’t wait to be playing the main arena and we’ve not played on that kind of stage outdoors so it’s going to be amazing. Pride is such a great event and we’re so glad to be a part of it.”
Looking to the future, the boys are looking to do a countrywide tour and work alongside other artists.
Keeping his cards close to his chest, Sam said: “We’re not working with vocalists at the moment, but hopefully we’ll be hitting the road with some pretty established names.
“I can’t say much for now so watch this space!”
